Measuring Progress

The Gender Diversity Scorecard (GDS) is a bi-annual survey that has been tracking the proportion of women holding senior executive positions in the European Retail and Consumer Goods sector since 2017.

As the only benchmark specifically analysing gender diversity across CPG and Retail companies in Europe, it provides a clear view of the sector’s progress over time.

Tracking the Journey to 50/50

The latest Gender Diversity Scorecard shows that women currently hold 39% of senior executive roles across the European Retail and Consumer Goods sector. This is a two-percentage-point increase compared to the 2023 results.

Retail currently sits slightly below the combined sector average but has made a marginal gain since the previous edition. CPG companies are performing above the sector average, reaching 42% women in senior executive roles, reflecting stronger progress across recent reporting cycles.

“We measure it because we treasure it. Progress is happening, but far too slowly. Our industry must accelerate change, not only because it’s the right thing to do, but also because inclusive workplaces where everyone belongs drive stronger businesses and healthier societies.”
